Flood Mud
Flood mud is worse than regular mud. It’s contaminated and smelly. I didn’t have the opportunity/chore of cleaning up the house and all its muddy contents the day after the flood (having small children really is a complete, full time job). I’m thankful I didn’t go, but at the same time I’m quite sure it’s taken me longer to comprehend what happened there. I’m glad for the photo’s that Lyle took, it’s helped me gain at least some understanding of how disgusting it all was. Our DVD collection was placed in a crate and is sitting downstairs in our new place. I’ve been rummaging through it a little to take out the DVD’s and throw away the cases. Some of the mud is still wet and as I got stuck into it for the first time I just thought ‘ewwwww’. Not teary though. It’s interesting the things that make you cry when you have this experience. Not the mud, it’s just gross.

Introducing . . .

A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe --
His craft and pow'r are great,
And armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
2
Did we in our own strength confide
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He --
Lord Sabaoth His name,
From age to age the same --
And He must win the battle.
3
And tho this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph thru us.
The prince of darkness grim --
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure --
One little word shall fell him.
4
That word above all earthly pow'rs --
No thanks to them abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Thru Him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still --
His kingdom is forever.
